Fourth Wing: A Book Review

I finally picked up Fourth Wing after putting it off for ages, mostly because I don’t usually reach for massively hyped books. I was surprised by how quickly I fell into it. The pacing, the action, the dragons, and the worldbuilding pulled me in far more than I expected, and it ended up being a genuine page‑turner for me.

The romance, though, wasn’t quite my style. I was rooting for Violet and Xaden, but some of the open‑door scenes and sexual innuendos felt a little too intense or jarring for my taste. I also found Dain’s character arc flimsy, and I wished his psychology and protectiveness had been explored with more nuance. The dragons were a highlight, though I would have loved their voices to feel a bit more distinct.

In the end, I enjoyed the book for its world, its momentum, and its sense of adventure more than for the romance. It felt like an exciting melody that occasionally hit a few sharp or flat notes, but still carried me along. Not quite my genre, but undeniably compelling.
